COVID-19 has shown just how important a digital strategy is as organizations have had to quickly pivot their business and/or operational models. As a core enabling technology, Wi-Fi provides the underlying connectivity between people and IT resources. Enterprises have been beefing up their Wi-Fi coverage to enable greater employee mobility, workplace flexibility, and digital transformation. But as Wi-Fi becomes the default network access method for nearly everything and everyone, the technology itself must evolve to deliver the performance and reliability of Ethernet to which we have become accustomed.
Thankfully, that is exactly what is happening: After more than five years in the marketplace, Wi-Fi 5 will be superseded by Wi-Fi 6, which is expected to be ratified in 2020. In addition, the FCC is working on releasing additional spectrum for Wi-Fi usage, which will significantly expand available bandwidth and allow network managers to make use of Wi-Fi 6’s technology enhancements.
This webinar takes an in-depth look at the Wi-Fi innovations coming to market, timing of available equipment and devices, impacts on network design, and what network managers can do to prepare.
