Advancing clinical decision support and telehealth in times of crisis - Insight from a virtual HIMSS 2020March 26, 2020The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) had to cancel its annual health IT conference due to growing concern over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which was quickly becoming a pandemic. This marked the first time in nearly sixty years that the conference has been cancelled and as we have seen since, not only has every other conference been canceled or postponed, but entire cities are now under quarantine. To salvage as much of the conference as possible, many of the scheduled on-site meetings carried on remotely. During the meetings vendors highlighted technology that could potentially ease the strain for which many healthcare systems are now experiencing, a few examples are included in this insight.
