Daniel Simmons

Mr. Daniel Simmons is an executive director in the Connected Home Technology research team at IHS Markit.

He heads global research on service provider set-top boxes, CPE, content security and user interfaces. Mr. Simmons has extensive experience in producing custom research for all aspects of television technology; influencing the strategies of many of the sector’s largest companies. His expertise includes understanding how service providers distribute content around the home and how consumers interact with it. As well as producing syndicated research products previously, he worked at Mitsubishi Electric, where he designed image-processing algorithms. Mr. Simmons graduated from the University of Surrey, Guildford, England, UK, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics.​

Airties acquires Technicolor’s Wi-Fi management software, forming partnership to deliver solutions

Airties has acquired Technicolor’s Wi-Fi networking performance management software, called Wireless Doctor. It’s a consumer-facing, cloud-based solution for service providers to deploy so their customers’ can manage their in-home Wi-Fi experience. Financial terms for the deal were not disclosed but it includes the Wireless Doctor software portfolio, related intellectual property, 30 employees from Technicolor and access to current customers.
