The global COVID-19 pandemic has had a wide reaching impact on many industries, including data center (DC) computing. Preliminary shipment data and vendor feedback point to the enterprise market segment being severely impacted as enterprises delay or cancel investment in DC compute altogether. Signs of strain in the global supply chain amplify this trend in the first half of 2020. On the opposite side of the scale, DC compute vendor feedback point to positive demand for communication and cloud services. Telcos indicated a surge in demand for communication services and plan to ramp investment. This analysis examines multiple data point to explain this trend.
