Vivo launched X21 on March 19th, it’s new flagship smartphone of vivo, compared with last generation of X20, it has many upgrades, such as panel and back design.

Vivo is the first brand in China to launch the new flagship smartphone. Form IHS Markit view the Vivo X21 model is quite match the main design trend of smartphone industry in this year. X21 equipped with 6.28 inch 19:9 aspect ratio rigid AMOLED panel which is produce by Samsung display who is largest AMOLED panel in the world. The X21 screen-to-body ratio reach to 90.3%, it’s upgrade more than 10%, compared with Vivo X20 what is the first 18:9 aspect ratio of Vivo launched in 2017 September. 3D glass back is also new design compare with X20 series, but it’s a little bit sad that Vivo X21 didn’t added wireless charge.
AI is another important trend in this year, it also can be seen on Vivo X21 which equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660AIE chipset what is integrated with AI computing unit. The snapdragon 660AI is custom-made by Vivo and Qualcomm. The Vivo X21 get smarter than the old model powered by the AI chipset. Vivo called as Jovi AI assistant, it used on camera to doing facial beautification according to gender, skin color automatic, the Jovi AI assistant can adjust the phone to the best status when people playing game. The smart notification is another attractive feature of X21, it’s can forecast the user behaviors and to the reasonable notification at same time. IHS Markit think that the Jovi AI is the Just followed the main stream foundation when the AI is only in the early stage in smartphone industry. AI for the camera, AI recognition for voice and text, and AI assistant are most smartphone player will integrate into the smartphone, wo can see a lot of smartphone models will powered by AI not only the premium product but also can be seen in the middle level.
X21 is also using Under Display finger print sensor on the premium version. Vivo is the earliest player demonstrated in-display fingerprint sensor in the world. Vivo has showed cased the invisible fingerprint which is collaborate research with Qualcomm by use the ultrasonic technology, it’s can penetrate 1.2mm OLED panel. Only half year later Vivo showed an another under display fingerprint technology by cooperate with Synaptics by using photoelectric reflection technique it can passing through the 1.5mm for entire stack and support and additional 0.2mm screen protector on the top of that and finally to the fingerprint processor, it’s more efficient and reliable than ultrasonic. X20 UD is the first mass production smartphone in the world. The Vivo X21UD is using same fingerprint sensor with X20 UD. IHS Markit believe that under display finger print is quite effective soliton when the full screen design coming to main trend. It’s more user friendly than face recognition to unlock phone and doing payment, because people just put the finger display to unlock phone instead of holding the phone to face to face.
According to IHS Markit research vivo has shipped 95.2 million Smartphones in the world and get 6.6% market share of global market, it’s the Top6 and Top 3 brand in global and China market separately. Vivo is more focus on domestic market it’s shipped 73.1 million smartphones in China market during 2017, added 3% year-over-year growth, although facing the stress on negative growth of China market. But we also can see that vivo has lost the impetus to going up in the second half year, form IHS Markit smartphone research data shows that vivo only shipped 23.5 million smartphones, added -18.1% year- over-year growth, is quite big lost compare last quarters in 2017, as the China market getting to mature vivo will face more pressure on keeping leading the growth. IHS Markit is happy to see vivo has trying very hard to making more technology innovation on smartphone industry and persuade consumer to buy them product.
