Sonos recently announced that it would be enabling its Wi-Fi connected speakers to be controlled via voice control through Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistance platform sometime in 2017, after a private beta test beginning late 2016. Users would be able to control Sonos playback of an Alexa default music service, via voice commands issued to an Amazon Echo device.

Sonos also announced that Spotify Connect support would be coming quickly to the company’s speaker line, allowing Sonos’ speakers to be directly accessed and controlled via the Spotify app.
