Since Microsoft released the first Surface in 2012, active styli have been a differentiating feature. Though they have not significantly influenced user behavior, the industry keeps improving their features and user experience. Microsoft adopted Wacom’s solution first for the Surface and then changed to N-trig’s solution with the second generation. Microsoft even acquired N-trig, an Israeli company, in May 2015.
