The European Commission (EC) has opened an in-depth investigation into the new regulatory plan for wholesale services proposed by the Portuguese telecoms regulator, Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM). The main reason for the EC to open the investigation was ANACOM’s decision to refrain from granting competitors regulated local or central office access to the fibre lines of the Portuguese incumbent (Portugal Telecom) in selected regions.
