Amazon announced updates to its Fire TV streaming video device line, with new versions of the Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick. The updated Fire TV now incorporates a claimed 75% upgrade in processing power, with a new 64-bit quad-core Mediatek processor. The device also incorporates upgradeable MicroSD-based storage and 4K video capability, matching Amazon's new 4K streaming video services. Fire TV pricing remains at $99, with a Game Edition including a controller, 32GB MicroSD card, and two games for $139.

The Fire TV Stick remains unchanged in hardware, and is still available in its original $39.99 incarnation, but is now available with the voice remote in a $49.99 bundle. In addition to voice-based search, the higher-end Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV both now incorporate Amazon's Alexa voice-driven personal assistant functionality, first seen on the Amazon Echo connected speaker.
