Between 2000 and 2014, consumers worldwide spent $398 billion on buying  pre-recorded video content on physical formats. Almost two-thirds of this was spent on purchasing movies with a further 17% generated by the sale of TV product. Worldwide, movies and TV combined have generated around 80% of consumer spending on buying physical video formats since 2002 but the split between the two genres varies significantly around the world.
