This report tracks the currently booming market for fingerprint sensors in mobile handsets, tablets and notebooks. Their use in the iPhone 5 in 2013 was followed by adoption by many other OEMs in 2014 and 2015. These sensors are becoming a standard feature in high-end smart phones, with further growth expected.

Fingerprint Cards, Synaptics and Apple (with its captive market) are the top three suppliers, with many others looking to gain share.  This report contains market shares in both units and revenues for 2014 and 2015 and profiles of many suppliers.

The report presents unit shipments, revenues and average selling prices, showing data by implementation (swipe, touch and touchscreen) by end device (mobile phones, tablets,  notebooks) and by OEM. The report also includes ecosystem information (such as foundry and module partners for the leading suppliers) and bill of material estimates. Detailed information on technology, use cases, challenges suppliers face and other biometrics (such as IRIS) is also provided.
