In the US, New York-based live TV streaming service Aereo has won its latest court battle against the broadcast networks arguing that the OTT player should be paying them for redistribution rights. But despite Aereo's success, it is unlikely that the same model would be universally accepted by courts across other markets, such as Europe, where online streaming player TV Catchup has run into issues. Even in the US Western States, copycat service Aereokiller has found little support from the courts. This report looks at the issues faced by online TV redistributors, focusing on the USA's Aereo and European services TV Catchup and Zattoo.
