- Technicolor acquires distribution centre from Roadshow Films
- Technicolor and Village Roadshow extend existing partnership for five-years
- Agreement broadens relationship to include development of new solutions
Technicolor Distribution Australia, a subsidiary of the French-based Technicolor Group has acquired the DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) distribution centre of Roadshow Films, itself a subsidiary of Australian film production house Village Roadshow.
Technicolor will also provide Roadshow with ongoing warehouse and distribution services for a further five years as part of a greater strategic alliance between the two long-standing partners.
The acquisition expands Technicolor's presence in Australia and further strengthens its geographical coverage. The distribution centre handles over 36m DVDs, BDs and other items each year for Roadshow and other entertainment companies. Technicolor is currently the largest replicator of DVD and BD discs in Australia handling disc replication for Disney, Paramount, Universal, Village Roadshow and Warner.
The five-year extension deal will broaden the companies' relationship that has existed since 2000. The deal extends Technicolor's existing service offerings in the Australian market to include the development of new solutions, such as digital encoding, content preparation and transcoding services, which will support the transition of its customers to digital. Roadshow is likely to benefit from such services as it progresses its digital content creation and delivery.
